That is me livin the dream at Gruene Hall. We came to the conclusion that if you don't like Texas Country or Dance halls, you should get the book, and just drive around to see what is out there in Texas. Too often people want to fly places because they are in a hurry and do not realize what they are missing. If you live in Texas, do yourself a favor and save your time and money for a trip around the Hill Country. Europe, LA, NY, Miami, New Orleans, and Las Vegas will be there later on. But unfortunately for those of us who appreciate the simpler things in life, there is no telling how much longer some of these halls will last.

So my previous comment should have been posted here...oh well
ReplyDeleteIf anyone ever gets the chance to visit Gruene, it is worth it I swear. It is known as the oldest dance hall in Texas, and the old hardwood floor inside is simply amazing. One thing that wasn't mentioned was that Gruene hall takes cash only and they don't serve liquor. And if anyone wants to know whose van that is in the picture...it's Zach Walther and the Cronkite's (and yes, he was driving the van personally).
